WSC4 Travel Awards

Travel awards are open to students, early and post-career scientists as well as seabird scientists and conservation practitioners from developing countries. We especially encourage submissions from researchers in Asia, Oceania and Latin America.

 

Travel Awards generally will not exceed $2,200 USD; the amount awarded will depend on the applicant’s travel expenses, availability of alternative travel support, and quality of the abstract submitted. Deadline for submissions is 15 January 2026 and we will aim to notify all applicants by March 2026.

Previous seabird-related activities (up to 4, most recent first; include dates, locations, collaborators/supervisors

Provide a list (from most recent to oldest) of up to 4 previous activities related to seabird research, monitoring or conservation that you have carried out. Please include a brief summary of the work, including locations and dates and who were you working with (e.g. supervisor(s) if you were a student). (Maximum 200 words)

Please cite any relevant publications or outputs (1-3 items, with brief notes on their value; maximum 200 words - considered within the context of career stage).

List 3 relevant publications, technical reports or unpublished documents, including articles on websites, related to seabirds that you have authored/co-authored, and indicate briefly the value and importance of the publication(s), for yourself as a student, researcher, manager, etc., or for seabird research and conservation generally. (Maximum 200 words)

Motivation statement: Why you want to attend WSC4, what you hope to gain, and how you will share outcomes with peers/colleagues and/or general public

Provide a brief summary of why you want to attend the WSC3; include what you hope to gain by attending and how you plan on sharing this with peers/colleagues and incorporating it in your current as well as future research or conservation work. (Maximum 200 words)
