Easy Tiger, transforming a boutique cinema into a full-scale hospitality and tourism showpiece
Abstract
The Easy Tiger project came about after a few of the seven-strong ownership group visited a great business in Christchurch called “Little High Eatery”. We knew St Helens would hit its groove with the new Mountain Bike trails set to open and this would create opportunities for new hospitality businesses in the area.
Covid hit and everything was put on hold. Fast forward to late 2021 and the time was right to revisit the concept. A mostly vacant building was identified in the heart of St Helens. After successfully negotiating the property purchase, we finalised a design concept and prepped the building for development.
The final concept included a high-class, brand-new boutique cinema with forty-eight seats, a long modern bar, beer garden and cafe. A brewery and two eateries were added using outside expertise to make sure the kitchens would be capable of producing amazing food.
Tim Bishop had recently moved to Binalong Bay and was keen to get involved to run the brewery. As a friend and background as a Brewer, the “stars aligned”.
The beauty of the Easy, Tiger concept is each element complements the rest of the offerings to provide a hospitality business that opens seven days a week, 8am to late. The building fires up each day with a café focus and has movies starting from mid to late mornings and running to late at night, with all other facets kicking in during the day.
The complex is also focused on private hires and live events.

Biography
With over three decades experience in science based and technical roles, Tim Bishop, has great adaptability across a range of industries; extensive background in Brewing, Mining, Foundry, Chemical, and Corporate Sales. Tim has Tertiary qualifications in Brewing & Distilling, Metallurgy and Applied Chemistry. Leveraging a flair for exploring alternate pathways to solving challenges, continuous improvement, and working with teams to create additional value within existing processes that make strong contribution to improved operating income. Tim is a passionate brewer, leading the Brewing Team at J Boag & Son, and serving on the Australian International Beer Awards judging panel for 7 years. Tim has co-hosted Beer and Food matching at events such as The Festivale and presented to groups on production of and organoleptic properties of beer. Tim is Head Brewer and Director at Easy, Tiger - Thirsty, Tiger Brewery in St Helens, TAS.
