IBD Presidential Address

Biography

Based in Adelaide, South Australia, Megan has 24 years of experience in the barley, malting and brewing industries. She has held various operational and technical roles at Lion, Joe White Maltings, Cargill Malt, and most recently Barley Australia, prior to joining Grains Australia Limited as General Manager Classification in February 2022. Megan holds a Ph.D Degree in Food Microbiology from the University of New South Wales, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Microbiology, and a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Chemical Technology from the University of South Australia. In 2023, Megan became the President of the IBD, making her the fourth woman in the organisation’s history to hold this position. With the transition from the IBD to the Chartered Institute of Brewers & Distillers (CIBD), Megan has the honour of being the final President of the IBD and the first President of the CIBD. She has brought a wealth of knowledge to the Board and her leadership has been instrumental in steering the IBD through the transition to chartership. A Fellow of the IBD - and soon to be a Fellow of the CIBD in 2025 - Megan is a former Director and Chairperson of the IBD Asia Pacific Section. She has also been closely involved with the planning and management of the Australian Barley Technical Symposium, serving as Secretary for the 2017 Hobart Symposium and as a committee member for the 2019 and 2022 Symposia.
