Flying into Darwin  

No official carrier has been nominated for the Forum due to competitive airfares available via the internet. There are three airlines who fly regularly into Darwin direct from across Australia. Check out the best fares of the day from these airlines.

    

Darwin Airport

Darwin Airport is about 13 kilometres from the city – less than 15 minutes by car. There are a few options to travel between the airport to the city. 

Shuttle Bus

Darwin City Airport Shuttle Service provides a convenient and reliable service to and from Darwin Airport and city accommodation. 

Bookings for hotel pick-ups essential, and can be made online or phone (08) 8947 3979. 

Taxis

Taxis are available from the taxi rank which is located directly in front of the terminal. Taxi pricing is charged by meter; expect to pay around $25.00 to $30.00 for a trip between Darwin International Airport and the Darwin CBD. A $4.00 exit toll payable by the passenger applies on exit from the ranking lane at the airport.

Car Rental

Darwin Airport offers a variety of rental car options, all located in the arrivals hall of the terminal, adjacent to the baggage collection belts. While it’s best to book ahead, rental cars are available on the day. Below are contact details for each company.

Getting around Darwin

In Darwin there are various transport alternatives to help you get from A to B. Services include buses, car hire (self drive), limousines and taxis.

Both private and public transport are affordable and convenient and offer friendly service.

In addition to the above options there is also a reliable bus service. The majority of bus services are provided by Buslink, which is Northern Territory's largest owned bus company. They currently operate over 160 vehicles throughout the Northern Territory of Australia. Buslink have depots in Darwin (Berrimah), Humpty Doo (Darwin's Rural Area) and Alice Springs.

How do I gain entry into the Forum?

It is suggested that delegates arrive at Forum promptly to ensure a seat. If sessions become full then delegates will not be allowed entry. Please wear your name tag for entry into all sessions. 

Where is the Forum held?

The Forum will be held at the Charles Darwin University Waterfront Campus, 21 Kitchener Drive, Darwin, Northern Territory, 0800.

What time does the registration desk open?

The registration desk will open at 8.15am both days. 

Where do I register?

The registration desk will be located in the foyer at the top of the stairs, in front of the Main Theatre, Level 5 , of the CDU Waterfront Campus. 

How will I know if there have been any changes to the program?

Any changes to the Forum program will be announced during housekeeping notices in the morning. You may also check with Leishman Associates staff at the registration desk.

Will copies of the presentations be available after the Forum?

PDFs of PowerPoints will be available on the Forum website following the conclusion of the Forum. Speakers will be requested to sign a release form. This is not compulsory.

When and where is the Forum Dinner?

The Forum Dinner will be held at Wharf One Food & Wine on Thursday, 4 July from 7pm-9pm. A delicious two-course dinner will be served, along with beer and wine.  



How do I know if I am registered for a social function?

A ticket to the Welcome Drinks and The Forum Dinner are included in each full registration (please note you do need to indicate your attendance prior to arriving each event). Additional tickets can be purchased for accompanying partners. After registering for the Forum you would have been emailed a registration confirmation which lists the social functions for which you are registered. Can I bring a partner along to the SIG Forum Dinner or Welcome Drinks?

Yes, you most certainly can – additional tickets can be booked when you registered online, or through the Leishman Associates office. Please email your request to: Angela Haley. During the Forum, bookings can be made at the registration desk, subject to availability. 

How do I pay for my accommodation?

When you book your accommodation your credit card details will be transferred to the hotel you have selected – please confirm this on check in with your hotel. Your credit card will be charged at check in and final balances paid upon check out. If you have arrived 24 hours later than your indicated arrival day you may find that you have forfeited your deposit. If you would like to make pre-payment, a Tax Invoice can be provided by the hotel.  If you are checking out on a credit card not in your name, please complete a Credit Card Authority Form and email to angelah@laevents.com.au.  

Is there security at the SIG Forum?

The members of the Forum organising committee and Leishman Associates accept no liability for personal accident of loss or damage suffered by any participant, accompanying person, invited observer or any other person by whatever means. Nor do we accept liability for any equipment or software brought to the Forum by delegates, speakers, sponsors or any other party. Please protect your personal property. Do not leave laptops, cameras, and other valuable items unsecured. Be conscious of individuals who appear out of place and do not wear a Forum name badge. Advise Leishman Associates staff if you see anything suspicious.

Can I photograph or record the Forum?

Delegates are not permitted to use any type of camera or recording device at any of the sessions unless written permission has been obtained from the relevant speaker. A professional photographer will be at the Forum, if you have any issues with being photographed please notify the photographer or Leishman Associates staff.

I am a speaker, what should I do?

It is our preference if you can upload your presentation to a drop box prior to the Forum commencing. If you are unable to provide your presentation prior to the Forum, please bring the same with you when you register. In addition, an email will be sent directly to all speakers prior to your Forum outlining all relevant details. 

I am a chairperson, what should I do?

Chairpersons will receive an email prior to the Forum, reminding them of their responsibilities. If you are a chairperson and do not receive this, or have additional questions, please contact Leishman Associates.

What is the dress code for the Forum?

For all Forum sessions, welcome drinks and Forum Dinner the dress code is smart casual or informal business.

Parking at the venue

Charles Darwin University Waterfront Campus offers parking at the venue.  This can be utilised at a cost depending on the duration of your stay.

With a variety of artisan and farmers markets, cutting-edge fashion boutiques and air-conditioned plaza shopping, Darwin offers a bit of everything.  
Please note shopping hours do vary so please check with the individual centres as to their operating hours.
