The CAUTHE 2025 Organising Committee welcomes Full Research Papers and Extended Abstracts relating to this year’s theme - Transforming Tomorrow: Leveraging Opportunities to Create Change in Tourism, Hospitality and Events
The green and gold runway of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games provides an exciting transformational opportunity for the CAUTHE 2025 host city and nation. The conference theme reflects the opportunities such events have as catalysts for generational transformation: for the host city, and for the tourism, hospitality, and events sectors across Australasia. We encourage submission of papers to discuss the notion of generational transformation and to gain key insights on how we as a sector can actively leverage opportunities to create a more diverse, inclusive, and sustainable future.
Call for Papers Close | 1 OCTOBER
Advice to authors | 30 OCTOBER
Revised Papers Due | 15 NOVEMBER
All submissions must follow the guidelines outlined in the Paper Formatting guidelines.
Your paper should be identified clearly as a Full Research Paper or an Extended Abstract.
If your paper is accepted, at least one author must register, pay and attend the Conference to present the paper.
All paper submissions must also include a Transfer of Copyright Agreement. This form must be read and consented to as part of your paper submission.
All submissions will go through a blind peer review process managed by the Chair of the Scientific Committee, in conjunction with the Scientific Committee's Editorial Board and other members of the Scientific Committee. All submissions will be provided with reviewers’ feedback and suggestions to further improve the quality of the research.
Papers submitted in this category are research work, or work presenting conceptual and theoretical development, that are complete. The paper should be between 4,000 and 5,000 words (including references, tables and figures) and will be blind, peer reviewed.
All papers must be original submissions that have not already been published.
Full research papers are eligible for nomination by reviewers for the ‘CAUTHE Award for Best Full Paper’.
Full research papers submitted by a PhD student on work derived from their study are eligible for nomination by the reviewers for the ‘Bill Faulkner Memorial Award for Best PhD Paper’. To qualify in this category, the primary author must be a student and the author’s registered supervisor must be listed as the co-author.
Presentations will be allocated either a Standard Presentation or a Lightning Talk based on alignment with themes and suitability of the paper for the different presentation formats.
All authors who have their submission accepted for presentation must register and pay for their attendance, at a minimum, for the day of the Conference on which they are presenting. Accepted presenters will be given access to the Early Bird Registration rates.
Prepare your PowerPoint presentation in 16:9 aspect ratio and save your presentation file to a USB for uploading in the Speakers' Preparation Room on site. It is NOT necessary to send the file to Leishman Associates prior to the Conference.
A chairperson will be assigned to facilitate each concurrent session.
*Inspired by UQ’s 3MT (Three Minute Thesis), in 2025 CAUTHE will introduce a new conference presentation format - Lightning Talks. Lightning Talks aim to create a more interactive, dynamic and engaging discussion forum focused around key conference themes. Presenters will be asked to communicate the significance of their full paper or extended abstract in 5 minutes and use a maximum of 5 slides.

Acknowledgement of Country
The City of Brisbane and The University of Queensland acknowledges this Country and its Traditional Custodians. We acknowledge and respect the spiritual relationship between Traditional Custodians and this Country, which has inspired language, songs, dances, lore and dreaming stories over many thousands of years. We pay our respects to the Elders, those who have passed into the dreaming; those here today; those of tomorrow. May we continue to peacefully walk together, in gratitude, respect and kindness in caring for this Country and one another.
Diversity and inclusion commitment
CAUTHE strongly supports equity and inclusion for all. We embrace diversity and condemn any kind of discrimination, be it on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.
